Where have all the workers gone? Recruiting and Retaining
Event Details
Based on the Contractor/Erector Roundtable discussion in Charlotte during our Annual Conference, the labor shortage and recruitment methods are a topic of great interest with a note to have regular roundtable discussions on it. To that end, the planning committee has put together a presentation by a subject matter expert on how to recruit and hire construction workers. We'll combine that with some real-world use examples from our members and show the Career Day Resources MBCEA has.
Key discussion points:
- What’s happening to our traditional labor sources?
- Where’s our existing worker pool?
- Where does that leave us in regards to a workforce?
- What does the future hold?
- What should we be doing now to ensure a future workforce?
Fellow member Dunn Building Company will share how they've built a relationship with a local trade school and how they've gotten grants to cover training.
Fellow member J&M Steel will share their in-house mentor program that has enabled them to significantly increase the number of new hires retained.
