Position Overview:

Western Steel Buildings is seeking an experienced, highly qualified, and exceptionally motivated Operations Manager with proven expertise in PEMB (Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings) and structural steel construction. This strong leader will report directly to our VP of Sales & Operations and lead a team to oversee all aspects of executing successful projects. He or she must lead by the example of extreme proactivity, personal responsibility, and respectfully engage their team members while providing guidance and follow-up on directives given. Their expertise will include various levels of planning, managing resources, and ensuring that we consistently hit the commitments we have made to our clients. For all our clients, cost and schedule are of utmost importance—this must be the priority for this person.

This leader and their team will add value through scope clarification and confirmation; internal and external change order management; and various levels of material procurement. He/she must ensure that deliverables are executed on time, building package delivery is coordinated, invoicing is proactively managed, payments are tracked, and onsite inventory of both PEMB and structural steel packages is handled effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Must have acute commercial awareness and understand the business implications of all aspects of this role with Western Steel Buildings.
Oversee, coordinate, and manage all operational aspects of PEMB and structural steel projects, from coordinating design with engineering through procurement, delivery, and the onsite inventory of the project packages.
Work closely with the Finance Team and Estimating Team to ensure all projects maintain or improve initial profit margins and are properly funded throughout their lifecycle.
Develop, implement, and refine operational processes to ensure efficient ordering, scheduling, cost control, high-quality delivery, and customer satisfaction.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fabricators, and logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement and delivery.
Lead the onsite inventory process using a combination of internal and external resources to optimize material flow, reduce the risk of onsite delays, reduce waste, and ensure project success.
Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Estimating, and Project Management teams to align operational activities with client requirements and project specifications.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operational efficiency, cost savings, and process standardization.
Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture aligned with our mission and values.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Actively participate in executive-level planning and strategy sessions.


Qualifications:

Proven expertise in PEMB and structural steel operations — deep knowledge of design, detailing, procurement, logistics, and inventory management is essential. Must be able to read and interpret industry-standard drawings.
Extremely strong organizational and leadership skills
A deep understanding of the construction process.
Experience managing/leading cross-functional teams and driving results.
Strong financial acumen with experience maintaining/improving profitability across complex projects.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

We are pleased to offer this position a comprehensive compensation and benefits package with an exciting signing bonus of up to $50,000 for highly qualified candidates. The salary range is $175,000 to $250,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

As part of our commitment to supporting our team members, this role will have access to a company-owned truck for business use, fifteen (15) days of paid time off (PTO), and eligibility for a discretionary performance bonus based on individual responsibility and contribution to overall company success.
