We are currently recruiting for an Estimator to be based in our Kansas City, MO office.   As an Estimator for PULLMAN, you will be responsible for estimating both maintenance projects and projects involving the supply and erection of new pre-engineered metal buildings along with the preparation of formal written proposals.

As a successful candidate, you will be also be responsible for:

  • Preparing estimates by calculating various statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment costs and applying to complete scope of work
  • Defining and quantifying scope of work and preparing comprehensive conceptual, budgetary, and construction cost estimates for projects
  • Reviewing / researching historical data and compiling summary reports of completed projects to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates
  • Securing quotations from subcontractors and material vendors in support of the work scope(s)

Candidates who meet the following criteria may be considered for this exciting position based in our large Operations division:

  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management may be given preference
  • 5+ years of construction estimating experience, ideally in a related position involving pre-engineered metal buildings and/or turn-key commercial projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to estimate projects of moderate complexity up to $10 Million
  • Ability to evaluate, quantify and capture specification requirements within the estimate
  • Prior experience working with terms & conditions in construction contracts
  • Demonstrated construction math and computer skills including Microsoft Excel and / or construction estimating software.  Must also be able to demonstrate ability to read blue prints
  • Ability to travel 10-20%

With offices located throughout the United States, and as a signatory to local, national, and international labor agreements, PULLMAN has the track record and the experience to meet our customers’ specialty contracting needs.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Structural Design Engineer to be based in our Kansas City, MO branch office.  Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing designs, specifications and drawings for proposals and projects prepared by the engineering team.  Projects consist of concrete and steel design of new and existing buildings and structures throughout the greater Mid-West region.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and reviews designs, specifications, and drawings for proposals and projects prepared by the Engineering Team
  • Coordinates project design efforts with the Project Team to see that the detailed design and plans accomplish required goals.  Attends project and administrative meetings as required
  • Prepares and / or reviews technical reports or related documentations
  • Assists the Project Team to keep the project on schedule and within budget
  • Tracks non-conformance issues and items and assist in resolution of retrofits during fabrication and construction
  • Investigates project issues and assists in coordinating solution alternatives with the Project Team
  • Reviews subcontractor and vendor submittals
  • Conducts periodic field visits/inspections during construction of a project
  • Assists the Project Team with the development of project proposals to determine project requirements, feasibility, constructability, schedule, and cost to bid the project
  • Assists in the preparation of technical presentations

Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for this exciting Engineering role:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
  • E. registration with the ability to obtain license in multiple states
  • 5 – 10 years of previous experience with reinforced concrete design, structural steel design and static & dynamic structural analysis methods
  • Proven skills to read and understand building and design codes, construction specifications and drawings
  • Proficient user of MS Office programs, advanced knowledge of one or more 2D and 3D finite element modeling / analysis software packages and knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD software
